Well Deserved

Our dear director, Anabel , and her family have been on vacation the month of June.  It is a well deserved vacation.  She has been the pilar behind Love in Action for eight years. She has dedicated her life to the  LIA children and helping others.

She will be returning the second week of July.  All the children and staff miss her, but are happy that she was able to take some time off for herself and her family.

We pray they have a safe trip home, with God´s blessings.

LIA is Coooool-ing Off!

CeilingFans1If you look up when entering the buildings at LIA, you will see the reason we are cool.  The Calvary Chapel, Cheyenne has graciously donated 16 ceiling fans to the center through our valued volunteers Marlys Anderson and Judy Jacobs. These fans have cooled things off and made those hot nights bearable for the children.CeilingFan2

How grateful we are!  They are truly a blessing for all at the center and those who visit us.

Thank you !

And She´s Off

425_crop_web

Many of you have been concerned about our little Cinthya, who has been wearing a cast, what seems forever.  It is finally off! She is receiving therapy and improving her walking ability.  She is still not used to walking without the cast, so it will take a while before she will take normal steps.

We are so happy to see her without her cast and appreciate all the time, dedication and love Moonie  and company, have given her since the beginning of this long ordeal.

Hanging Out with the Puppets

This month´s Godparent activity with the children was the Puppet Show at the Ajijic Auditorium.  It was a real treat for the children, since for many, it was the first time they had seen this type of show.

These and other cultural events are excellent for the children.  It gives them a little taste of culture and the arts.

Keep up the good work Godparents!

Clowning Around Town

The circus was in town and the brave Godparents that are still in town took their child and a “few” of the other children to see the show.  From the looks on the children´s faces and the lovely noise making toys the children returned with, they must have had a wonderful time. We were thankful that they did not return with any of the circus animals.

Even though the toys left a bitter sweet impression on the houseparents, we are sincerely THANKFUL to all of you.

About Us..

LIA2Love in Action is a home where children whom have suffered neglect or were in a high-risk home environment, are placed by the Mexican government with the purpose of providing them with a temporary and safe shelter.

We were located on Mount Tepehua (te-pay-wah) in the town of Chapala in the state of Jalisco, Mexico. This part of town is one the poorest in the area with a high percentage of gang activity, drug and alcohol problems and single parent homes.Old Location

Through the grace of God and the extremely generous donations of our supporters, we have moved to a larger location with more room for the children to enjoy life. They now have six building with a large grassy area to play in.
We presently house anywhere from 50 to 60 children with ages ranging from 1 to 16 years old.
Apart from being accountable to our board of directors, we continually are visited by government officials that come in to supervise the many activities here at the center.
